About Us
The Mid Lancashire Area Ramblers comprises eight Ramblers groups. Working together the groups provide around forty walks a month (View our area's walk programme). The groups are also involved in the ongoing monitoring of the footpath networks, encouraging their maintenance and enhancement.
The Ramblers is Britain's walking charity. We do all we can to ensure everyone, everywhere can enjoy walking in nature. We are dedicated to protecting footpaths and other places to which the public has a right of way or access on foot.
The Ramblers in the UK (England, Scotland, and Wales) has more than 120,000 members in about 50 Areas and over 500 local groups.

Most of the groups each have their own walk programme and these are combined into a joint programme for the Area.
Walks are most commonly added to the programme about a month or more ahead of the walk. But some walks are added at short notice so always worth checking regularly.
Groups tend to have their own pattern of walks but together tend to have walks:-
- every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
- walks every 2nd Wednesday
- Multiple weekend walks and sometimes on Monday.
Walks vary from leisurely 3 ish miles up to challenging 15 miles or so with quite a lot being in the 5-8 mile range.
The more challenging walks tend to be in the weekend.
Shorter walks are usually in the gerneral Lanacshire area perhaps 30-45 min away from most towns in the area.
The longer and more energetic walks may be further away such as in the Lakes and Dales or in more local hilly areas.
For the walks further away, it is common to have a car share system in place.
Non-members are welcome to join a few walks to see which groups or types of walk would suit them.
